Thomas Pilong took up painting in 2019 following a career as a senior video editor. A seven-time Emmy Award winner, his editing work has been seen worldwide on projects like Bruce Springsteen’s "Born to Run" music video, the opening ceremonies for the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics, the documentary "Games of the XXV Olympiad: Tragedy in Munich", and "Two Minute Warning"—the premiere broadcast video for the NFL Network.
Throughout his career, he has worked with legendary musical artists ranging from B.B. King to Cyndi Lauper and Def Leppard. Among his commercial credits are the "I'm Going to Disney World" Super Bowl commercials. In recent years, his artwork has been exhibited at the Media Arts Gallery, with multiple paintings acquired by collectors.
As a self-taught artist, Pilong views painting as a natural transition from film and video editing. The decades he spent in the editing suite offered a seamless progression to exploring creativity with a different set of tools. Today, his paintings combine technical discipline with creative freedom, beautifully translating a lifetime of visual storytelling into fine art.
